Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, the 28-year-old fourth son of Luxottica's founder and chief strategy officer, is embarking on a new entrepreneurial adventure. Del Vecchio Jr. recently financed (becoming the first investor in) Wishew, a start-up founded by Giacomo Vose, through his family office LMDV. The startup just created the first all-Italian social network, which has already attracted over 50,000 subscribers in just two weeks. However, the distribution (downloadable soon) will take place in the United States, where 49% of global crowdfunding is concentrated. In fact, Wishew is based on videos in which users ask other subscribers for a dollar (or more) to make a long-held wish come true. The social network's financial model, which prohibits "likes", is centered on withholding a tiny portion of donations and selling sponsoring packages for wishes. A clever algorithm will mitigate the scam danger. From 2026, the app should be available in Europe. "We will open up to the global market, but this will not be the only novelty: we aim to enrich Wishew with a whole new level dedicated to charities and the world of volunteering", Del Vecchio Jr. said.
