The miracle of liquefaction of San Gennaro's blood has been repeated. Abbot Vincenzo De Gregorio made the announcement on Saturday at 6:38 p.m. at the Basilica of Santa Chiara's entry, following the procession. At the same moment, Monsignor Battaglia, the Archbishop of Naples, displayed the ampoule to the devoted and waved the white handkerchief, which represented that the miracle had occured. The announcement was met with acclaim from the faithful who pack the Basilica, both inside and out. The "miracle of May" commemorates the first translation of San Gennaro's relics from Pozzuoli, where he was martyred by beheading, to Naples, where they are stored.
