Matteo Falcinelli, a 25-year-old Italian student, was arrested in Miami in an extremely aggressive manner. The young man, originally from Spoleto, was allegedly slammed to the ground, his face pressed on the asphalt, and then transported to prison. When Falcinelli was in a transit cell at the North Miami Beach police station, four officers allegedly "shackled" him by subjecting him to the so-called "hogtie restraint": using a strap, the cops attached Falcinelli's feet to the handcuffs behind his back, pulling for 13 minutes. Several Italian media outlets stated that the 25-year-old Italian is in the United States to pursue a Master's degree at Florida International University (at the Biscayne Bay Campus). The incident occurred on the night of February 24 and 25, but Matteo's family decided to report it only today, after the young guy agreed to the judge's program. The bodycams utilized by the officers captured the violent incidents, including the one installed within the police station. The prosecutor's office did not provide the young man's American attorney with access to that bodycam until April 12, during the course of the trial. The trial, which ultimately resulted in his admission to the "Pretrail intervention," a re-education program, was concluded on that date. At the conclusion of the program, the judge will dismiss the four offenses of resisting a public officer, opposing arrest without violence, and trespassing.
