Let's move on to one of the most talked-about proposals of the week: the reintroduction of mandatory military service. The recent proposal for the reintroduction of mandatory military service—perhaps also provocative—launched by the League has certainly sparked debate. According to a survey by Termometro Politico, the opinion of Italians seems unfavorable, with almost 60% opposed. For 34.8%, defense should be the prerogative of professionals, but they are in favor of mandatory civil service training for young people. For one in four people (25.1%), it is considered a wasted year, which young people should be able to use as they see fit. On the other hand, 17.9% of the sample fully support it, both for its educational value and for potential geopolitical commitments. Another 20.5% confirm that it is a good idea, but conscripts should only be used for the defense of the country and not for missions abroad.
