The nineteenth edition of the Trento Festival of Economics, which closes on Sunday 26 May, will include five Nobel Prize winners: Edmund Phelps, awarded in 2006 for his analysis of the intertemporal relationships of macroeconomic policy; James Heckman, winner in 2000 for his contributions to the "development of theory and methods for the analysis of selective samples"; Michael Spence, Nobel Prize in Economics in 2001; Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2006, and his colleague Tawakkol Karman, awarded in 2011 for his nonviolent struggle for democracy and his defense of women's rights in Yemen. The event is the most significant public function that is specifically focused on the economy. The Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, and the Democratic Party secretary, Elly Schlein, will also be present. In addition to the government's leader and the current opposition figure of reference, 22 ministers and the European Commissioner for Economic Affairs, Paolo Gentiloni, were confirmed to attend the demonstration. Mario Monti, the senator for life and former prime minister, will also be present.
