Italy climbs to the top step of the podium in the women's epee team event of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. On the Grand Palais platform, it was gold for the quartet composed of Rossella Fiamingo, Alberta Santuccio, Giulia Rizzi and Mara Navarria who, after decisively defeating Egypt (39-26) and China (45-24) in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively, in a tension-filled last act, imposed themselves on the hosts at overtime 30-29. For the Italian women's epee team, which at its peak had gone as far as silver in Atlanta 1996, this is the best result ever at the Olympic Games. The Italy Team, therefore, puts the 11th medal of this Paris edition as well as the third gold after those obtained by Nicolò Martinenghi (100 breaststroke) and Thomas Ceccon (100 backstroke).
