The fire that started in Sardinia on Monday afternoon in the villages of Benetutti, Orotelli, Orani, Orune, and Nuoro raged through the night. Approximately 700 hectares have been consumed, including cork and downy oak woodlands. Four Canadairs, two Super Pumas, and three helicopters from the regional fleet arrived on the scene at dawn on Tuesday to put out the 7-kilometer-long fire. As a result of the fires, eight individuals have been evacuated from four sheepfolds that were at risk. Police and carabinieri were also on the scene. In addition to the Canadairs, helicopter patrols from the Forestry Corps and the Gauf, a fire management working group, took to the field.
