According to research conducted by Too Good To Go and ISIC Italy, amid eco-anxiety and inflation, students pay more attention to reducing waste (63%) and rely more on promotions and discounts to do their grocery shopping (83%), saying they need at least 100 euros more per month for a balanced diet (47%). The year between the end of 2023 and 2024 has been largely impacted by inflation and rising prices, making it necessary for many Italians to change their daily habits and revise their monthly spending on food. A different approach to the shopping cart, also highlighted by a study by Too Good To Go, a social impact company and the largest marketplace for surplus food, and YouGov, according to which more than 91 % of respondents have changed their food consumption habits. A decision dictated by economic motivations, but not only: for one in two respondents (49%), it is a choice that is closely linked to the desire to adopt new, more sustainable practices in their daily lives, useful for reducing food waste.
