The 5 Star Movement, the only Italian party until a few years ago, is in open conflict between its founder, Beppe Grillo, and its current leader, former Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte. In light of the constituent assembly, the pro-Grillo faction has started to move their pawns. A meeting in mid-September will be held to prepare for the "battle" for the confrontation that Giuseppe Conte has requested and is scheduled for the following month. The former lawmakers on the founder's side signed a letter accusing the former premier of "ingratitude". The letter is also signed by historical and prominent M5S figures such as Nicola Morra, Elio Lannutti, and Alessio Villarosa. However, the area is now growing, with additional adhesions forming a square around Grillo. Mariolina Castellone, vice-president of the Senate in the M5S quota and former leader of the Five Star Movement in recent years, has also openly condemned the "grillicide" carried out through that "bullying technique, which we have always stigmatized and condemned when used by others to marginalize and isolate someone". A confrontation between Grillo and his successor is imminent.
