It is the first time in 60 years that Nutella has changed its look and introduced a new variant to the market. The novelty is called Nutella Plant-Based, and it is a spreadable cream made with hazelnuts and chocolate made entirely from vegetable ingredients. Vegan Nutella is green: the cap and a portion of the label change color to "dress" the plant-based version of Ferrero cream, the world's best-selling spread (770 million jars sold annually and consumed by over 110 million families). In the vegan version, from the ingredients, seven in all - sugar, palm oil, cocoa, hazelnuts, milk, soy lecithin and vanillin - skimmed milk powder disappears, while chickpeas and rice syrup find their place. Plant-Based Nutella, like traditional Nutella, is gluten-free and has been certified as "Vegan Approved" by the Vegetarian Society. The plant-based version also meets the needs of lactose intolerant people, allowing them to taste, or re-taste, the same unmistakable experience as the original. As of now, the new spread will be available in Italy, France, and Belgium in the 350g format for 4.49 euros. It will be introduced to other European markets in 2025, commencing with Germany at the beginning of the year.
