A 25-year-old American soldier from the USAF installation in Aviano has been arrested on accusations of attempted murder. First thing in the morning, he stabbed a thirty-year-old man, originally from Eastern Europe, three times in the back as he was leaving a disco in Fossalta di Portogruaro (Venice). The carabinieri stopped a Colombian in connection with the stabbing. The attackers fled in a sports car, but the military recognized and apprehended them based on information provided by the club's security and staff. The fight that resulted in the stabbing would have begun in the parking lot and involved numerous persons. The arrests were made possible by a spectacular chase between two police units.
