The digital transformation of Italian healthcare is progressing: this is stated in the fourth edition of Deloitte's Health Italy Outlook, according to which 54% of Italians book services online, 58% receive digital referrals, 38% use digital services and platforms to inform themselves or choose healthcare professionals, and 45% share referrals digitally. Opportunities related to the digitization of healthcare that Italians value include ease of access (48%), greater choice of services (36%) and continuity of care (29%). According to the Deloitte Outlook, reducing waiting lists, facilitating access to care and leveraging technological innovation to improve the organization of the National Health System (NHS) emerge as key priorities. In 2023, 29% of respondents said they had to forego care in the past 12 months, a decrease from the previous year (-3%). Waivers are mainly caused by economic reasons in 69% of cases, a percentage up from previous years. The overall rating of Public Healthcare remains stable with a rating of 6.3 out of 10, while Private Healthcare reaches 1 rating of 7.
