The match was interrupted in the 25' of the first half at the score of 1-0 for Antonio Conte's team due to the throwing of objects and smoke bombs between groups of the opposing fans, which ended up on the pitch and behind Scuffet's goal. A Cagliari steward, on duty in the South Curve, was injured after a scuffle with a home fan who, in response to the dense throwing of firecrackers and smoke bombs by visiting fans occupying the sector just adjacent to the South Curve, attempted to reach the guest sector with a pole in his hand.
