"We share Orsini's concern about the timetable for starting nuclear power in Italy, but the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security has already moved in time. We have established the Platform for Sustainable Nuclear Power, and with Professor Giovanni Guzzetta we are preparing the legal framework to return to using this technology. By the end of the year we expect to start the legislative process for new rules". This was said by Environment and Energy Security Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, commenting yesterday on the words of Confindustria President Emanuele Orsini, who said that on nuclear power "we cannot waste any more time". "I am pleased that Confindustria supports the choice we have made as a government to resume nuclear power with more modern technologies. We can no longer go on with the price of energy double that of the rest of Europe," he added, “This involves the commitment of the executive and everyone to take up the challenge. In Italy we have the skills and facilities to do so. I’d like to remind you about the last power plant that was built in Europe, in Slovakia, was made by Enel”.
