EssilorLuxottica and Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, have strengthened their partnership. The Italian eyewear and lens firm said yesterday that it has extended its association with Mark Zuckerberg's company through a new long-term collaboration arrangement. The two businesses "will collaborate over the next decade with the goal of developing the next generations of smart eyewear products", which are smart glasses that allow you to make calls, take photos, shoot and share films, listen to music, and generate hands-free live streaming content. Since their partnership began in 2019, EssilorLuxottica and Meta have produced two generations of smart glasses. The most recent model, which was introduced in the autumn of 2023, seamlessly integrates a vast array of technology into the iconic Ray-Bans. The integration of Meta AI in the United States and Canada (with Europe to follow later) allows users to execute a variety of tasks and acquire information while on the go. There is also conjecture that Meta may invest roughly 5% of its stock in the business created by Leonardo Del Vecchio in order to reinforce the collaboration.
