Irene Pivetti was sentenced to four years for tax evasion and self-laundering. This was ruled by the fourth criminal section of the Court of Milan in the trial of the former Speaker of the Chamber and three other defendants over a series of business transactions carried out in 2016 worth about 10 million euros. The confiscation of more than 3.4 million euros was also ordered. The former third State Office was present in the courtroom at the time of the reading of the ruling.
