16 percent of 13-18 year olds have risky sexual behaviors, and as many as 3 out of 10 minors use drugs habitually or occasionally. The data, collected as part of the "Legal Love" project, were presented yesterday at a press conference held at the Capitol in Rome. The survey was conducted between March and June 2024 by the Road to green 2020 association, promoter of the Legal Love project, among school students throughout Italy on a sample of 13- to 18-year-olds. The first data to emerge from the research is a worsening of the phenomenon of bullying among young people: 50 percent of respondents in fact said they are (or have been in the past) victims of bullying or cyberbullying by their peers, while according to interviews collected by Legal Love experts, 25 percent of teens are or have been "unconscious" bullies, meaning they have carried out violent acts toward peers without realizing their acts and their consequences. 16 percent of youth who participated in the survey have risky sexual behaviors, from not using condoms to refusing to use contraceptives, and of these 1 percent have dangerous conduct (promiscuous or group sex, sex with strangers, etc.). 30 percent of respondents admitted to habitual or occasional use of drugs, primarily cannabis and cocaine, while about 6 in 10 admit to frequent consumption of alcohol products.
