Fincantieri has elected to invest in the Monfalcone shipyard in order to access the giga ship market, which is characterized by a gross tonnage exceeding 200 thousand tons. In order to achieve this, the plant's infrastructure must be sufficient. "We are planning to replace the shipyard's large cranes and make a series of logistical changes that will allow the plant to compete in a new market stream", said Cristiano Bazzara, director of the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone (Gorizia), at the launch ceremony of the Star Princess, the second liquefied natural gas cruise ship that Fincantieri is building for Princess Cruises. Bazzara spoke of significant investments, stating that "customers who look at our competitors for a specific type of ship can now look to Fincantieri because the infrastructures we are thinking and designing will allow us to be competitive".
