Vinitaly USA, which will take place at Navy Pier in Chicago on October 20 and 21, is an opportunity for Italian wine consolidation in the American market. The Veronafiere and Fiere Italiane overseas trade fair début introduces a business-to-business format for an Italy of wine that aims to widen its advantage over its direct French competitors. In a head-to-head comparison, Italian exports on the value front increased by 8% to 1,120 million euros in the first seven months of 2024, whereas transalpine exports decreased by 5.6% to 1,264 million euros. The event, organized in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency, features the participation of all major bodies involved in the growth of Made in Italy, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forestry, from the Italian Embassy in Washington to the Consulate General in Chicago, from Assocamerestero to the heads of trade organizations and regions. Over 30 events are scheduled over two days (Sunday, 20 and Monday, 21), including workshops, tastings, and market emphasis. The Italian team's primary goal will be to meet a specific American demand comprised of importers (including the National Association of Beverage Importers, Terlato Wine Group, Banville Wine Merchants, Winbow Imports, Opici Wines and Spirits, Winesellers Ltd), distributors, large-scale retailers, and restaurateurs. Also noteworthy has been the involvement of the trade press, influencers, and opinion leaders.
