Andrea Bocelli has been appointed Councillor for Culture in his hometown of Lajatico, a village in the province of Pisa where he was born 66 years ago. On the occasion of his 30-year career, the town's mayor, Fabio Tedeschi, awarded him the town's honorary Councillorship for Culture and the Arts, as well as handing him the Keys to the Town. The mayor wanted to express his gratitude to Bocelli for organizing the “Theater of Silence” every summer in the hills of Lajatico, an event that attracts tourists and bel canto lovers from all over the world.
