In 25 years, 35% of Italy's population will be senior, meaning they will be above the age of 65. The silver economy, the big new economy that will dominate the next two decades, is focused on the needs of these growing numbers of people. In terms of economics, we are discussing a sector that in 2020 in Italy contributed between 20-30% of the country's GDP, with a value that ranged from 323.3 to 500 billion euros. A resource for a country's economy, ranking first in Europe and second in the world, after Japan, in terms of old population. This continual increase in the number of seniors is creating a growing need for services specialized to their specific needs, such as healthcare, transportation, and care, among others. In addition to having a longer life expectancy, these individuals are and will continue to be the largest holders of moveable and real estate assets, as well as certain income streams. According to the most recent data from the Bank of Italy, processed in 2022, the silver population group has a larger "spendable" income than others. Income that has stayed steady throughout the economic crisis. It amounts to 288.7 billion euros for those over the age of 65 and will increase further in the coming years, peaking at 330.2 billion in 2050.
