Italy is sixth in the world in terms of copyright profits, which are transferred to authors of music, literature, cinema, television, opera, theater, and dance. In fact, financing for 2023 amounted at 698 million euros, up 22.9% from the previous year. These are the figures from Cisac's current Global Collections Report 2024, which includes the Italian SIAE and 226 other members from 116 countries that safeguard reproduction and performance rights. In Italy, as in other countries, the royalties generated by musical works account for the largest portion of the pie. This figure, which is 548 million euros, represents a 22.3% increase from the previous year and the highest growth rate among the top ten international countries. In this particular area, the United States predictably ranks first in collection across all repertoires, with 2.8 billion in royalties (+8.1% in 2022): the United States alone accounts for more than 20% of the global market. France and the United Kingdom follow. Also in fourth place, Germany surpasses one billion, surpassing Japan (895 million) and Italy. Thailand finishes with 11 million among the fifty markets assessed, followed by Lithuania with 10. Following music revenues, Italy has income from the audiovisual sector, which ranks second in the world behind France.
