A new course for sports audio descriptors is about to be introduced in Italy. CMT Translations proposed and curated the initiative, which aims to prepare and train journalists, radio commentators, speakers, and others interested in getting involved, in response to an emerging labor market demand and, most importantly, a sense of greater community inclusion. The Italian Football Federation sponsors the audio descriptor course, which is also firmly supported by the Fondazione Istituto dei Ciechi di Milano ONLUS. The institute recognizes significant values and innovative forms of inclusion that transcend the realms of sport and work. The new profiles who will be enrolled in the course will be capable of providing precise audio descriptions directly at the stadium (or at sports facilities in general) and expressing the emotions and subtleties of the action on the pitch, in the stands, and on the bench. This will enable blind, visually impaired, and multi-visually impaired fans to experience intense sporting moments, whether they are present on site or connected remotely. Participants will also learn how to use the inclusive audio description platform "Connect Me Too" and participate in practical exercises, such as analyzing a football game and receiving constructive feedback on how to improve their skills. The workshop is divided into two days of rigorous training in which the philosophy and method of audio description will be addressed, offering the knowledge required to explain every move on the football field in a detailed and interesting manner.
