A small company from Friuli could face a 1,500-euro fine for seemingly innocuous use of a photo of the night-lit Eiffel Tower on the main page of its website. The warning was sent by a Paris law firm on behalf of Seti, the Société d'Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel, the entity that manages the famous monument. The dispute does not concern the Eiffel Tower itself, but rather the lighting system installed in the 1980s, which is considered a copyrighted work. Seti, in fact, argues that the night lighting constitutes an original artistic creation and that the use of images of the illuminated monument is subject to restrictions.
