A new wave of bad weather has hit Sicily, turning the streets of Torre Archirafi, a hamlet of Riposto, in the province of Catania, into veritable rivers. Several cars, without passengers, were swept into the sea by the violence of the water, but fortunately no one is reported missing. In Aci Sant'Antonio, firefighters intervened to rescue some people trapped inside a completely flooded supermarket and rendered aid to some motorists stuck in their cars. In Acireale, one person was rescued in a flooded house. An amphibious vehicle was deployed by firefighters in Altarello, another hamlet of Riposto, where the overflow of a river flooded the ground floor of a house occupied by 4 people, including 2 disabled ones. Since 8 a.m. Wednesday, firefighters from the Catania command have carried out 64 interventions throughout the province, including 13 rescues of people, damage restoration, assistance, securing of buildings and recovery of vehicles.
