An episode of unprecedented violence shook the Salvati middle school in Scanzano, a hamlet of Castellammare di Stabia (Naples). A support teacher was attacked by about 30 parents who, on Thursday morning, broke into the institution. The incident, which took place around 10:30 a.m., was triggered by false rumors spread on social media about the teacher's behavior toward pupils. According to reconstructions, the attack was linked to a 2-day suspension imposed on a student caught smoking in the bathroom. The teacher, held responsible for the disciplinary measure, was targeted by a group of parents, who reacted violently. In the course of the raid, the teacher's father, who was present at the scene, attempted to defend his daughter, but was in turn attacked, suffering a fractured wrist. The teacher, on the other hand, suffered a head injury as a result of the blows sustained. Carabinieri, who quickly arrived on the scene, managed to rescue the teacher and her parents, preventing further consequences. The incident caused dismay in the school community, which had already distinguished itself in the past for innovative educational projects and commitment to promoting extracurricular activities.
