The new highway code has been approved, which provides zero tolerance on non-compliance with speed limits: fines from 173 to 694 euros for those who go over them by more than 10 km/h and no more than 40 km/h. For those who go over for a speed between 40 and 60 km/h, the fine ranges from 543 to 2,170 euros, with a license suspension from one to three months. If you went over for a speed of more than 60 km/h, the penalty can be between 845 and 3,382 euros, with a driver's license suspension of six to 12 months. The penalties for driving while using a cell phone are also harsher. Fines range from a minimum of 250 euros to a maximum of 1,000 euros, and it is one of the cases where an automatic one-week license suspension comes in. For repeat offenders, the fine goes up to 1,400 euros with license suspension for up to three months.
