According to the latest report from the Istituto Superiore per la Protezione e la Ricerca Ambientale, we lose 2.5 square meters of soil per second in our country, a total of 77 square kilometers per year. The report's data outline an alarming situation in Italy, from north to south, with regions registering particularly high levels of land artificialization, such as Lombardy, which, with 12.16% of the area now consumed, holds the national record, followed by Veneto with 11.88% and Campania with 10.52%.
