The 2025 Carnival will be remembered as the first Viareggio Carnival that was accessible and inclusive for individuals with visual impairments, thanks to an initiative by the Catarsini 1899 Foundation of Viareggio. The foundation, committed for years to the "Art Accessible to All" project, proposed the idea, which was welcomed and promoted by the Viareggio Carnival Foundation. The project includes adapted explanations of the allegorical floats, audio recordings, and floaters' greetings. The initiative has been shown great sensitivity and interest by the papier-mâché masters, as a result of which all nine first-category floats and the four second-category ones, starting from the second masked parade, will be accessible to individuals with visual disabilities. This will be achieved through the use of adapted descriptions, audio recordings with narration, and QR codes that have been placed on the self-propelled structures to facilitate scanning by smartphones. This is the first time in the history of the Viareggio event. It should be noted that the audio recordings are also available for download from the official Carnival magazine, as well as the Catarsini Foundation and Carnival Foundation websites, always via QR code. In addition to the words that describe the allegorical themes—both as a whole and in detail— the audio recording is enriched by news dictated by the floaters themselves, the Carnival's protagonists; at the end of each recording, the voice of the float's author can be heard, inviting everyone to celebrate and participate in this important moment of the year.
