Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), the industry leader in container shipping by fleet capacity and the sole carrier among the first in this market to operate this year without utilizing vessel sharing agreements with other carriers, has announced modifications to two of the 11 transatlantic services that are part of its standalone network. These are the Medusec lines, which connect Italy and the East Coast of the United States, and Emusa, which connects Israel, Turkey, Greece, France, and Spain to the East Coast of the United States. From the Medusec service, which touches the ports of Genoa, Gioia Tauro, Livorno, and Naples in Italy, stops at the ports of Barcelona and Sines will be removed, with both ports being included in the Emusa rotation. As a result of the rearrangement, the Medusec service will have a record transit time for this market, taking only nine days to navigate between Genoa and New York.
