Italy's network of electric car charging stations continues to grow. During 2024, 13,713 new charging points were laid, including 4,052 in the last quarter alone. This brings the number of charging points in Italy to 64,391 (up 75% in the last two years), a number that - despite the fact that sales of electric cars are struggling - confirms that Italy is among the most virtuous countries in Europe in the infrastructure serving battery-powered vehicles. Indeed, with 19 public-use charging points for every 100 electric cars on the road, Italy is ahead of France (14), Germany (8) and the United Kingdom (7). Italy also leads in the number of charging points relative to the total length of the road network with one point every 4 km, followed by the United Kingdom (5 km), Germany (6 km) and France (7 km). Northern Italy stands out, where 57% of the stations are concentrated, although Rome is the city with the most charging points (3,117), followed by Milan (1,400) and Naples (1,235).
