Lando Norris triumphed in the 2025 Australian Grand Prix, opening the season with a victory for McLaren in a race marked by adverse weather conditions and numerous twists and turns. The Briton finished ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Mercedes' George Russell on the podium. The race, held at Melbourne's Albert Park circuit, was affected by intermittent rains that made the asphalt slippery and treacherous. Already on the formation lap, rookie Isack Hadjar lost control of his single-seater, while incidents in the early stages involved Jack Doohan and Carlos Sainz, forcing them to retire. Norris kept his composure under pressure from Verstappen, who attempted an assault in the final stages of the race. A mistake by the McLaren driver with three laps to go rekindled the Dutchman's hopes, but Norris managed to defend his position until the checkered flag. Ferrari had a difficult day: Charles Leclerc finished eighth, while Lewis Hamilton, making his debut with the Maranello stable, finished 10th, expressing dissatisfaction with the car's performance in the wet. Of note was the excellent performance of Mercedes rookie Antonio Kimi Antonelli, who finished 4th, showing great talent in his Formula 1 debut. The race saw only 14 drivers cross the finish line, a testament to the difficulties encountered on the track. The next round of the World Championship will be held in China.
