From April 4 to 6, the international modern and contemporary art fair "miart" will return to Milan. This event features masterpieces from the early twentieth century, including works by Balla, de Chirico, Schiele, and Picabia, as well as new productions by the most influential contemporary artists, including David Hockney, Francis Alys, Rosa Barba, and Monica Bonvicini. The artistic director Nicola Ricciardi has curated 179 galleries from 31 countries and five continents (including the Daine Singer gallery from Melbourne) under the title "among friends" for this edition. The title was chosen in honor of the generous and welcoming personality of a master like Robert Rauschenberg (1925-2008) on the centennial of his birth. The galleries have been grouped into three sections, allowing visitors to traverse an entire century of art, from the early 19th century to the present. The largest section is Established, which includes 144 modern and contemporary art galleries and 142 projects. The Emerging section brings together 25 younger galleries, each showcasing 22 projects by artists from the most recent generations from all around the world. Finally, there is Portal, which features ten galleries exploring contemporaneity through perspectives from all over the globe. Among the galleries is New York's Maxwell Graham Gallery.
