A heart attack mid-flight, a doctor on board, and a swift intervention that prevented tragedy. During a flight from Rome to Atlanta, a 59-year-old woman experienced a severe illness, including chest pain, difficulty inhaling, and cold sweats. It was Nicolò Valentini, a 27-year-old resident doctor from Taranto, who rescued her while traveling to the United States for a job interview. The young man did not hesitate: he used the on-board tools to assess her vital signs and diagnosis a heart attack. He then provided the available medications, supporting the patient until she landed, at which point a medical team took over. The woman is now fine, and Valentini is continuing his road to becoming a surgeon. "I didn't think about anything, just that I had to act fast", he said.
