Giuseppe Vicenzi, Veronese entrepreneur known as the "king of biscuits" and founder of the Vicenzi Group, died at the age of 92. Son of pastry chef Angelo, he popularized the family recipes, particularly those of his grandmother Matilde, transforming a tiny artisan business into a successful one. A Cavaliere del Lavoro and a great basketball enthusiast, Vicenzi was also the patron of Scaligera Basket during its golden years. "I started wrapping biscuits when I was five years old", he liked to recall, retracing a career that has taken his group to 370 people, three production sites, and a turnover of more than 160 million euros by 2023. Amaretti and ladyfingers are among his most ingenious intuitions, which have established the Vicenzi brand as an Italian pastry excellence. The President of Veneto, Luca Zaia, remembered him with a message of condolence: "We lose a champion".
