New information has emerged about the murder of Alessandro Coatti, a 39-year-old Italian biologist who was brutally assassinated in Colombia. According to a local newspaper, Coatti fell victim to a dating app scam. Contacted through a bogus profile, the biologist left his Santa Marta hotel expecting to meet someone, but a gang specializing in tourist robberies awaited him. After being drugged and robbed, Coatti would have been murdered and dismembered. Colombian officials have identified four suspects who are now at large and began searches. The abandoned house in the San José del Pando district where the alleged crime occurred has also been identified. Initially, investigators suspected the involvement of paramilitary groups or narcos gangs operating in the area, but the focus has now shifted to an organized criminal group. Coatti had arrived alone in Colombia on April 3.
