With an anthological exhibition by Emilio Isgrò, the Museo d'Arte Contemporanea del Carmine in Scicli (Ragusa) was inaugurated. The former Convento del Carmine together with the adjoining church stands in one of the city's most beautiful Unesco heritage squares. The late Baroque complex completed in 1778 to a design by Friar Alberto Maria di San Giovanni Battista underwent a restoration completed in 2017. The museum includes the large cloister, also used as an exhibition space, and the vast rooms on the second floor, which cover 900 square meters, as well as some rooms on the ground floor. The complex has a conference room and is equipped with a controlled ventilation system to ensure a constant temperature and a state-of-the-art video surveillance system. Scicli was declared a World Heritage Site in 2002, along with other towns in the Val di Noto, for its splendid example of Baroque architecture.
