During yesterday’s question time in the Senate, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni reaffirmed the government’s intention to move swiftly on institutional and justice reforms. "The premiership is moving forward", she remarked. "I consider it the mother of all reforms. The majority is also committed to move on with justice". Regarding the electoral law, Meloni reiterated her endorsement of the implementation of preferences. The topic of migrants received ample attention, particularly the deal with Albania on detention centers. "By the end of this week, more than 25% of the migrants detained in Albania will have already been repatriated", she stated, highlighting the efficiency of the plan implemented despite attempts to undermine it. Meloni also condemned the practice of certain Italian courts ordering the return of transferred migrants to Italy, despite the existence of clearly unfounded asylum applications. "Almost all of them have committed significant crimes", she stated, "yet others still want them to remain in Italy. We, on the other hand, want them repatriated". Finally, on the international front, the prime minister stated that Italy supports a proposal to restore the Gaza Strip "within a framework of peace and security" that includes the prospect of a two-state solution. "Arab countries are the key to a stable solution to the conflict", the president concluded.
