The Demopolis Institute has taken note of Italians' wishes regarding the characteristics of the new Pope who will be chosen by the Conclave. 63%, the vast majority, would like continuity with the figure of Francis. On the contrary, 25% of respondents envision a Pontiff who is more traditionalist than Bergoglio. In a symbolic sense, which name should the future Pope select while anticipating the white smoke? Two indications prevail in the Demopolis poll: 33% of Italians believe the new Pontiff's name should be Francis II, while 28% choose John Paul III. These are, in fact, the two most beloved Popes of the past 50 years.
