The Consumers' Union has produced a ranking of the capitals where the cost of living has increased the most, based on inflation data from Istat. The regional capital Aosta, was the least expensive city in Italy. This city experienced the highest deflation rate, which means that even a family could save on expenditures compared to the previous year (approximately 230 euros). Imperia is second on the podium, with a 0.6% year-on-year decline in expenses (0.9% in Aosta). While inflation surges in Venice, raising expenses and consumption (1.9%, about 500 euros more per family per year), in Aosta one can rest easy and even enjoy a few days of vacation and relaxation. Aosta has a lot to offer, and as the least costly city in Italy, staying there for a few days doesn't cost much. The Arch of Augustus and the Porta Pretoria, the Roman Theater and the Forensic Cryptoporticus, as well as the Cathedral and Collegiate Church of Sant'Orso, are all must-see tourist attractions. The Regional Archaeological Museum is equally impressive. While just outside the city are the highest and most beautiful mountains in Italy.
