General Antonio Conserva is the new Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force. Conserva, who was born in Taranto 62 years ago, now leads the Air Force after previously serving as commander of the Logistics Command and as Chief of Cabinet at the Ministry of Defense. During his more than two-year tenure under two ministers, General Conserva oversaw the Covid emergency, the "Aquila Omnia" mission in Afghanistan, and Russia's aggression against Ukraine. He enrolled in the Air Force Academy in 1982 and served as commander of Gioia del Colle's 36th Wing from 2006 to 2008. Now he reaches the pinnacle of the Italian Air Force in a period marked by a slew of crises and wars that have highlighted the importance of air defense.
