Claudio Corrarati has been elected Mayor of Bolzano. The center-right candidate received 51.03 percent of the vote, narrowly beating center-left challenger Juri Andriollo, who stood at 48.97 percent. The result is final, with all 80 sections counted. "Now is a great moment of responsibility. We have a job ahead of us that we will put in place already in the coming days," Corrarati said immediately after the victory. "We must bring citizens back to politics, bring the palace back to the people. It is a double commitment, which we will tackle with attention and quality". The new Mayor stressed his willingness to carry out the election program outlined in the campaign, "We must follow up on this project to improve the city and restore credibility to politics". For his part, Juri Andriollo acknowledged the outcome of the vote, but stressed the rift that emerged among voters: "It will be up to the mayyor to hold this community together. The city has split in half".
