Italy has returned to dominate the volleyball continental scene, signing a spectacular double in the Champions League, both at men's and women's level. Indeed, Conegliano and Perugia won the most coveted trophy on the European scene, confirming the extraordinary quality of Italian clubs. Conegliano's Panthers became European Champions for the third time, after their successes in 2021 and 2024, overwhelming Scandicci in the all-Italian final. Completing an entirely tricolor podium, Milan took third place by overcoming VakifBank Istanbul. It is a historic achievement: for the first time, three Serie A1 teams occupy all steps of the podium in the women's Champions League. In the men's field, Perugia captured the trophy for the first time in its history, beating Poland's Aluron Zawiercie in the final on tie-break after an extraordinary comeback from 0-2 down. On the third step were the compatriots of Jastrzebski Wegiel, defeated by the Umbrians in the semifinals with a clear 3-0 win. Not only Champions League: among the women, Novara triumphed in the CEV Cup and Rome won the Challenger Cup, completing an unprecedented continental hat trick. Among men, Trento and Civitanova stopped short of success in the minor competitions, while Monza and Milan were eliminated by Perugia and Halkbank Ankara, respectively. For the 12th time in history, Italy manages to win both Champions in the same season, a feat that has already succeeded in 2023, 2019, 2009-2010, and several times in the 1990s and 2000s with historic clubs such as Ravenna, Modena, Bergamo, Matera, and Treviso.
