The Veroni cured meat factory, which was established in 1925 in Correggio (Reggio Emilia), was recently acquired by the American company SugarCreek Packing Co., a leader in the protein manufacturing industry. Last year, the factory recorded a consolidated turnover of 190 million euros, which contributed to positive results in Italy and Europe, with a 4% increase in the previous year. Veroni has been present in the United States since 2016, with a facility in Logan, New Jersey, where cured meats from Emilia-Romagna are sliced and packaged. In the last five years, the Emilia-based group has grown by 25% in the US market. In the United States, it is the first Italian brand in the cold cuts industry. Veroni is currently carefully studying numerous options, both in Europe and in non-European countries, to examine the sustainability and adaptation of the business model used in the United States. The Veroni are a family of entrepreneurs, and SugarCreek is also family-led, by the Richardsons. Perhaps that, too, explains why business is going so well.
