“We are working to find new markets and to strengthen our presence in markets where we are already present. We are convinced that at this stage it is necessary to work harder to strengthen our country's international trade and to support companies that want to export at every level”. Thus began Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who, yesterday in connection with the Trento Festival of Economics, spoke about “Made in Italy: Italy's strategies”. It was a three-way conversation that allowed for a sort of “world tour”, from Japan, where Mario Vattani, Commissioner General for Italy Expo 2025 in Osaka, was, to Mexico where there was Matteo Zoppas, President of ICE, the agency for the promotion abroad and internationalization of Italian enterprises, along with Minister Tajani, for an important Business Forum between Italian and Mexican companies. “The goal we have set for ourselves is ambitious: to reach 700 billion euros in exported goods by the end of the legislature. Today we are at 623.5 billion euros. To reach this goal we are organizing business forums around the world, we have been to Japan, India, Croatia, the Netherlands, we are carrying out a great work that has one goal: to offer Italian companies the support they need to grow”. Commissioner Vattani explained how Expo 2025 in Osaka, which will last six months, is a valuable opportunity: “We are dealing with more than 160 countries and we expect 30 million visitors, it is essential to look out for new markets, in addition, Asian markets are important”. The commissioner took the opportunity to present the Italian pavilion, which features the Farnese Atlas, an imposing marble sculpture from the 2nd century AD, a true treasure of the National Archaeological Museum in Naples, in dialogue with Italian technology in aerospace, and where there is no shortage of space for infrastructure, culture, technology and research, and even a link with the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics. “In a few weeks,” Vattani continued, ”we have organized more than 80 events and more than 120 companies have met; then there is the system of regions, which supports us, with a space dedicated precisely to territories”. From Mexico City Zoppas, President of the ICE Agency, explained how Mexico represents “one of the countries chosen by the Farnesina export plan”. Just in these days the Business Forum is underway where meetings of Italian companies with Mexican partners are being fostered, to promote the internationalization process of companies abroad.
