The State Railways has started a several-week trial with "two subjects to make it possible to connect on trains during the entire High Speed route, via satellite. And one of the two subjects is Starlink". It is Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini who made the news official. From the Trento Festival of Economics, during an interview, he recalls that one of the first requests to the top management of Ferrovie dello Stato, was to "make it possible to connect during the entire High Speed route between Milan and Rome", more in detail, the system would consist of placing Starlink's "tablet" on the roofs of carriages and remote stations, taking the satellite signal and translating it into wifi connectivity. On the issue, the Minister of Transport explained that it will be up to Ferrovie dello Stato to decide, in full autonomy. Should the "experimentation be successful I will be the first supporter of an agreement with Starlink", Salvini stressed. For Green leader Bonelli, the deputy premier is turning Italy into an American technological colony. Andrea Casu, a Democratic Party deputy, accuses Salvini of turning into a "promoter of Elon Musk's company”.
