Italy's climate emergency is worsening: 110 extreme weather events were recorded in the first five months of 2025, up 31% from the same time in 2024, when there were 84. This was disclosed by Legambiente's Climate City Observatory, which identifies flooding from intense rainfall (34), wind damage (23) and river flooding (14) as the most prevalent phenomena. "These data confirm the inadequacy of current mitigation and adaptation policies", cautions Legambiente, advocating for a clear and urgent shift in pace. Meanwhile, in Paestum (SA), young activists formed a human chain on the dune oasis to launch a clear message: “Stop fossils, start renewables". The program is part of Legambiente's "Youth Climate Meeting 2025", with the goal of encouraging the government and regions to take tangible steps to speed the ecological transition, lower energy costs, and generate new green jobs.
