One of Venice's most famous and popular hotels, the Gabrielli on Riva degli Schiavoni, not far from the Danieli, is ready to reopen its doors under the management of the Starhotels group. The Perkhofer family, who had owned the building since its inception in 1856, signed into a lease arrangement with Starhotels, kicking off a restoration that cost 20 million euros and took three years to complete. The official reopening is scheduled for July 9. The group already operates the Hotel Splendid Venice, as well as properties in Florence, Milan, and Rome (Hotel d’Inghilterra), and internationally in London, Paris, and New York, for a total of over 30 four and five star hotels. The building, which dates back to the mid-1800s, comprises three structures, with a terrace, a private dock, a spa, and a stunning 600-square-meter internal garden. Over the years, it has hosted famous writers and was often a stop on the Venetian Grand Tour for young European scions. The total number of rooms has gone from 105 to 66, allowing for more spacious and comfortable accommodations for future guests. Among them is one of the city's largest Presidential Suites, which also has a private roof terrace. But the most spectacular feature will surely be the rooftop terrace offering a 360-degree view of the lagoon — from the Lido to Punta della Dogana and the San Marco basin.
