Jasmine Paolini's adventure at Roland Garros 2025 stops in the round of 16. On the red clay of Philippe Chatrier, the finalist of the last edition was defeated in three sets by Elina Svitolina with the score of 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, at the end of a match full of emotions and regrets. The Italian, fresh from her triumph at the Rome Internationals, had three match points between the second set and tie-break, but failed to materialize them. After winning the first partial (6-4), Paolini came close to victory in the second: ahead 4-1 and then 5-3, she found herself at 40-15 with two chances to close out the match. However, Svitolina nullified everything and forced the tie-break, where the Italian had one more chance (on 6-5), vanished with three consecutive points by the Ukrainian. The third set, marked by an obvious mental and physical decline of Paolini, left no doubts: Svitolina dominated 6-1, winning the pass to the quarterfinals, where she will face Rybakina or Swiatek, defending champion and already winner of four Roland Garros. For Paolini, there remains the bitterness of a great opportunity blown, but also the confirmation of her status among the protagonists of the women's circuit.
