About thirty million Italians spent Republic Day on June 2 away from home, between trips, picnics, and brief vacations, thanks to the record heat. This is what emerged from an online survey conducted by Coldiretti / Ixè for Republic Day, with many individuals unable to resist the lure of a day outside. For those who have decided to spend a few hours away from town, the sea is the most popular option, chosen by nearly one in four, followed by the traditional picnic and the mountains, but there are also others who have gone for a day trip to see family and friends. According to the analysis of Campagna Amica and Terranostra, farmhouses were also the protagonists of the June 2 celebrations, as they captivated the attention of more than half a million visitors during their overnight stays and meals. A success attributed to good weather, wonderful food, and an increasingly diverse range of experiences ranging from wine, beer, and olive oil tourism to dairy farm visits and walking trails. Among the over 26,000 active farmhouse structures nationwide, many reported being fully booked. A great viaticum for the next summer season, as the agritourism sector awaits confirmation of the results achieved during the spring long weekends, with a predicted increase in attendance. Coldiretti concludes, "It is no accident that food has been classified as the primary item of expenditure for Italians traveling for an estimated amount of over 2 billion euros during the long weekend of Republic Day. This includes dining at restaurants, pizzerias, trattorias, and farmhouses, as well as purchasing food and wine souvenirs at farmers' markets and the first festivals of the season".
